Cloud Services

Redbee offers you the flexibility to decide where to host your site or application. This can be in our datacenter, on a dedicated server, a VPS, on a server at your premisses, or in the cloud. We can help you migrate your infrastructure to a cloud solution (eg. Amazon EC2 or Elastic Host). Additionally, we can manage this virtual cloud environment.

Public cloud support

An often observed disadvantage of the migration to the cloud, is the lack of support. Redbee removes this disadvantage by offering support on your infastructure that is running in the cloud. Our backup and monitoring solutions create a stable and available environment, where we can directly respond to and fix any problem that occurs. We offer this support in a transparant pricing model, where you only pay for active instances.

Cloud migration service

If you don't have the time or knowledge to create cloud images, Redbee can do that for you. For a one-time fee, we create a working and configured server in the cloud for you. This server can be purchased from Redbee, or run under your own Amazon account. The following tasks are perfomed as part of the Cloud migration service:

  • OS installation in image (CentOS 32/64 bit)
  • OS Hardening
  • Application installation (eg. LAMP, Tomcat, JBOSS, Glassfish, Cpanel)
  • Configuration backup possibilities
  • Basic configuration applications
  • Data migration (billed on real hours spend)

One-time fee for installation of a cloud image is € 175.00.

Private cloud

When using a cloud provider, you don't have control over the placement and location of your data and server instance. The solution to this problem is a private cloud. In a private cloud a number of physical servers is reserved for a single customer. This allows it to give guarantees on availability, capacity and placement of data. For applications working with sensitive data this often is a requirement. During peak usage, it is possible to offload specific instances to a public cloud, if this is allowed by regulations.

If a public cloud does not give sufficient guarantees, or posses too much security risk, Redbee can help to create a private cloud. A private cloud offers the same possibilities as a public cloud: you can deploy instances when needed, but with the additional guarantee that you are the only user of the hardware. Redbee can offer a private cloud in multiple costs models.

To the cloud, or not?

Redbee helps you in making the decission to migrate or not, based on the costs, the possibilities, advantages and disadvantages. We are clear about the limitations and will not hessitate to emphasize the advantages. Almost any server can be migrated to the cloud, but it does not make sense for all servers.

When you use public clouds, you must conform to the rules of the cloud provider. An EC2 instance for example, can only use 1 public ip address. This puts limitations on the use of SSL certificates or shared hosting.

The Redbee Cloud

We offer our own cloud solution, besides our support of public clouds like EC2 and Elastic Host. This gives you a number of specific advantages:

  • control over the place of the data
  • dedicated point of contact
  • security on the ownership of the hardware
  • phone support

Cost calculation Cloud Support

At Redbee you only pay for support on instances that are actually active. The support costs depend on the level of support you choose. When a cloud instance runs with Basic support for 300 hours a month (744 hours), you pay € 32.26, in stead of the usual € 80.00.
